Showcasing the depth of home-grown talent, past, present and future, Revolutions in Sound is pleased to announce more acts on the bill, spanning chart-toppers and underground heroes, including: Tottenham golden boy Wretch 32, grime star Kano, furry disco deviants The 2 Bears and techno taste-maker, DJ/producer Andrew Weatherall. Keeping the carnival spirit burning long after Summer’s faded, Digital Soundboy Soundsytem weigh-in with Shy FX, Breakage, B Traits, Donae’o, Stamina MC and Youngman alongside Bestival Curator Rob da Bank and Numbers honcho Jackmaster.
Elsewhere, Hessle Audio’s Pearson Sound, Ben UFO and Pangaea take over FabricLive’s capsule, Moshi Moshi present D/R/U/G/S and Night Angles, Don Letts brings his reggae party sounds whilst acoustic songstresses Andreya Triana & Tanya Auclair sprinkle their irresistible melodies and soulful vocals on the proceedings. With Red Bull Music Academy in Madrid kicking off just days after Revolutions in Sound, participants old (Space Dimension Controller, Braiden) and new (XXXY and Doc Daneeka) will also represent on the night.
They’ll join acts already announced, namely dubstep trailblazers Skream and Benga with Sgt. Pokes, drum & bass pioneer Goldie (with his Metalheadz collective), Roller Express featuring the Steel City’s Toddla T & Bristol’s Redlight, gentleman rudeboy David Rodigan, Notting Hill stalwarts Channel One Sound System, Benji B’s Deviation and Night Slugs L-Vis 1990 and Bok Bok.
On top of the 30 capsule gigs, the base of the London Eye will play host to a “Silent Disco” with guests being able listen via headphones to feeds from the capsules and performances on the illuminated South Bank.
Audio from each of the 30 gigs will be streamed live on the web via www.redbullmusicacademy.com/worldtour/london
Free tickets for the capsules and silent disco will be available via www.redbull.co.uk/RevolutionsinSound from 10.00am Thursday 22nd September 2011. You can choose which capsule to attend with a limited number of unsuccessful capsule applicants winning tickets to the silent disco.
Revolutions in Sound will be the final stop on a global tour, with concerts and workshops held in ten cities with their own distinct musical tapestries - Berlin, Detroit, New York, São Paulo, Cape Town, Melbourne, Paris, Toronto and Rome – building up to the 14th annual Academy in Madrid this October/November. Once again, 60 rising talents from around the world will get the chance to meet and collaborate with fellow participants and learn from some great music minds giving lectures and hosting workshops. Keep up to date with the rest of the tour and progress in Madrid at www.redbullmusicacademy.com.
